In the 1940's, all enlisted & drafted American men had to go through a “screening” process to ensure no homosexuals were allowed into the armed forces. This included hormone tests (to measure estrogen levels), gag reflex tests (to measure— well, use your imagination), and a written questionnaire that began with the query: “Do you like girls?”.... Despite this, thousands of gay and lesbian Americans offered their service, and gave their lives during World War 2.
